Each visit means 35–40 minutes. During this time, all of your cat's needs will be met by a visiting sitter.
No. Based on our experience, we only offer daily cat sitting – one or two visits per day. For longer trips of more than 7 days, we recommend the two visits per day option for the benefit of the cats.
Yes. For kittens under the age of 6 months, we will only do 2 visits per day (unless the owner is attending to the kitten before the trip on the first day of the visit or the owner comes home in the afternoon/evening on the last day).
Our cat sitters are at the disposal of clients every day (also on weekends and holidays) from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visits can be requested in three time intervals: 8.00-12.00, 12.00-16.00 and 16.00-20.00.
Currently we provide our service in Budapest's downtown area and in certain parts of outer districts (districts I, V, VI, VII, VIII and in certain parts of districts II, III, IV, IX, X, XI, XII, XIII, XIV, XVI, XVII, XIX) without a drop off fee. The drop off fee is always 1500 HUF/visit. After you submit your request for a quote (https://localcat.geza.dev/en/get_request) we will indicate in the quote whether we need to charge a drop off fee in your case.
LocalCat divides parts of Budapest by district so that our cat sitters can visit cats in the areas they often go to (workplaces, residences, etc.). This allows our cat sitters to regularly visit their same cat clients (depending on the cat sitter’s capacity) and to get to your place quickly and easily. With LocalCat, your kitty-cat gets to stay in their comfortable surroundings and have a familiar, friendly cat sitter come visit so that you can feel stress-free and secure while you are away from your beloved pets. Naturally, on occasion it may happen that a cat sitter needs to be substituted for, but we do our best in these cases to ensure that a maximum of two sitters should look after your cat.
Though we are not specialists in veterinary health, we do our best to find a solution in cases like this to the best of our ability. Please remember to inform us about medicinal treatments your cat is undergoing.
We try to handle reservations as flexibly as we can, but we ask you to inform us about your request at least two weeks before the start date of the cat-sitting (a personal consultation must also be conducted before the first visit). Reservations can only be confirmed if we have available capacity, so it is always worth thinking ahead. For longer time periods away from your cat, it is most beneficial for both parties if you plan in advance and make a reservation in advance, so we can guarantee that your cat sitter will visit your pet during the same time period for up to a week. Last-minute reservations (12-24 hours prior to the current feeding visit) are only possible if the feeding period is extended (e.g., if the owner is away for 6 days instead of the originally planned 5 days).
Fill in our get request form (https://localcat.geza.dev/en/get_request).We'll get back to you within 24 hours to see if we can take on your request. If so, after filling in and confirming the order form, your nominated cat sitter will make an appointment with you to visit you can share what we need to know – your cat's daily routine, eating habits and needs, contact details for your vet, etc. There is no extra charge for the one-off introductory appointment, it is part of the LocalCat service. You can also hand over the key(s) to your cat sitter at this time.
A flowchart will also show you the process of requesting and placing an order. Click here to view it.
If possible, you should give us two sets of keys. This provides double security for any situation (even in cases of force majeure), so that we can get to your pet. One set of keys will be with the cat sitter, and the other one will be held at the LocalCat office.
If you can provide us with only one set of keys, you will need to name a safety contact (family member/relative/friend/neighbour), who will be available in Budapest during the cat-sitting period and who will have an extra key to your home. This is only needed in the event of an emergency that could affect your sitter, allowing us access to your pet. Then we have to intervene instead of the cat sitter so it is essential that we have a B plan to get to the cat.
Of course, all cat sittings will be completed, even in exceptional cases of force majeure, when the kitten sitter is unable to visit the kitten for reasons beyond his/her control. In such cases, LocalCat's back office team will immediately step in and a colleague of us will visit the kitty instead of the assigned cat sitter.
Though this is not a condition, we highly recommend it. We take full responsibility for our cat sitters, so you need not worry about the safety of your property. It is also certain that daily camera movement on the property will keep burglars at a distance. For damage covered by home insurance policies (including damage from fire loss, lightning, floods, earthquakes, storms, snowfall, hail, snow pressure, explosions and blasts, pipe breakage and leakage, glass breakage, as well as damage to buildings and from burglaries and robberies, etc.), however, we cannot be held liable.
If there is a security camera on your property, please let us know about its existence.
No. For indoor cats, it is compulsory to always keep windows and balcony doors closed - even if they are fitted with a cat net. It is important to note that LocalCat only provides cat sitting with closed windows and doors. Our cat sitters will, of course, get fresh air to the apartment under supervision, as agreed with the owners in advance, but because for safety reasons they will close all doors and windows before their leaving.
Payments can be made by bank transfer two banking days following the receipt of the invoice after the cat sitting has been completed.
No, we don’t, we handle cats exclusively. Unfortunately we are unable to provide services for other pets such as dogs, hamsters, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, exotic animals, turtles, and fish.
The cat-sitting service can only be cancelled under the following conditions:
(A) In cases of cancellation 4-7 days before the start of service, 50% of the whole amount of the cat-sitting fee is to be paid.
(B) In cases of cancellation 0-3 days prior to the start of or following the start of the contracted service period, the whole amount of the cat-sitting fee is to be paid.
Our cat sitters devote their full attention and care to the pets under their care, so their capacities are limited on a daily basis. They can only visit a certain number of addresses at a time, and last-minute cancellations mean we cannot service other clients who need cat-sitting.
